My problem is that it has taken over all default multimedia activities on my Windows XP machine. I wish to use Windows Media Player for audio CDs, .wav, .mpg, files etc and have repeatedly configured the default file associations in WMP, and in Folder Options/File Types accordingly. However it doesn't last!

Is it possible you've associated jpg's to another program or application so that whatever app you're using to try to view them doesn't automatically 'see' them 'cos it's default file association is changed ? It doesnot happen when i use my mom-n-pop dial-up, as it only happens when i use my BellSouth DSL.
